“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” — 1 John 5:13 (KJV)
1. Why This Matters
Years ago, many people were familiar with the Bible. Today, countless people have questions about God, Jesus, and salvation — and many do not truly know what the Bible says.
In Acts 16:30, the Philippian jailer asked,
“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
It is just as important to ask:
“What must I KNOW to be saved?”
2. Who is God?
Hebrews 11:6 — “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
God created the world, has all power, knows everything, and is everywhere at the same time. He is a Spirit and not limited like we are. God is good:
Psalm 136:1 — “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
God gave us the Bible so we could know Him and His ways.
3. What is the Bible?
2 Timothy 3:16 — “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
God used over 40 men across 1,500 years to write the Bible. It reveals who He is and how we are to live. Many have tried to destroy it, yet it still stands true today. You may not understand everything at once, but you can trust it completely.
Psalm 19:8 — “The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
4. Who is the Devil?
Isaiah 14:12–15 tells how Lucifer (Satan) fell from Heaven because of pride and rebellion. He is a liar, deceiver, and tempter (Matthew 4:3).
One day, the devil will be cast into the lake of fire:
Revelation 20:10 — “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone… and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
5. What is Sin?
1 John 5:17 — “All unrighteousness is sin.”
Sin is breaking God’s law.
Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
We are all sinners — not just because we sin, but because we are born with a sinful nature inherited from Adam (Romans 5:12). Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2).
6. What is Hell?
Every person will die physically, but the soul lives forever.
Hebrews 9:27 — “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
Those who die in their sins will face the “second death” — eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14).
7. The Good News — God Loves You
John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
8. Who is Jesus?
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent from Heaven (John 6:38), called Emmanuel — God with us (Matthew 1:23).
He performed miracles, healed the sick, and even raised the dead. Then, as the Scriptures foretold, He died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3), was buried, and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4).
1 Peter 2:24 — “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…”
Today, Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of God (Hebrews 12:2).
9. Your Decision
Jesus said:
John 14:6 — “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
God gives you the choice — to believe and receive Jesus Christ, or to reject Him.
John 3:36 — “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
10. How to Be Saved
If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again — and you are willing to turn from sin and trust Him — you can be saved today.
John 1:12 — “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
A Prayer of Salvation
There is no “magic prayer,” but if you mean this from your heart, you can pray something like:
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I know You punish sin in Hell. I do not want to follow sin — I want to follow Jesus. Right now, I accept Jesus Christ as the substitute for my sin and as my Savior. Please forgive me, save me, and help me live for You. Amen.”
